Lincoln High School Spirit Week
What's up with Spirit Week?
Spirit Week is one of the best times of anyone's Lincoln High School Career. It emphasizes on teamwork, fun, and a love for your school. It sends the school into a whirlwind of competitiveness and class pride. Each class sets out hard in early September to begin Spirit Week activities. Classes compose skits, choreograph dances, prepare for dodge ball, and compete in group activities.

Spirit Days at Lincoln High School consist of a week of dress up in common theme. It allows students to get as creative.

PAST YEAR EVENTS
Monday, Favorite Movie Character Day
Dress up as anyone of your favorite movie characters, from Luke Skywalker to Forrest Gump!! It is your call.
COOKOUT by Junior Class (7-9 pm) in the high school gym
Tuesday, Pirate Day
Pirates have been a vital part oin human history. From stealing goods from unsuspecting sailors , to huge box office hits starring Johnny Depp. Show your support for the pirates on this day!!

Show your life plans and ambitions on this day. Dress as any profession you please, from electrician to astronaut.

Dress up as any favorite Scholar from history!!! These include Einstein to Socrates to Urkel. It is all about Education this day.

Da Coin Clash
The coin clash is a deceptively competitive game. The premise is that each class has their own jug in which they put their own pennies. However other classes can put silver coins into other classes jugs. The silver coins act as negative money to each class's pennies. The class with the most money at the end of the week in their jug is the winner.
All penny denominations will go back to the respective classes. It pays to play!!!
OTHER RULES
Location and Appearance
The jugs will be placed in the main foyer near the communication center during the morning and afternoon. The jugs will also be located in the back of the cafeteria during all three lunches. Each jug is labeled with the class that it belongs to . If you have questions see a student council member.
The Food Drive
This event is infamously known as one the freshman automatically throw away. The food drive is tremendously important. All of the food collected goes to the Rhode Island Food Bank. This is to support the welfare of people in our state.

The Cookout
The Monday Cookout is the first after school event of Spirit Week. It takes place at the school and is run by the Junior class. Normally a DJ or band is present to play some music for the crowd. Don't miss out on the greatest social event
Important things to know about the Cookout
SKIT NIGHT
Skit night is probably the most nerve racking night for every Spirited Lincoln High School student. Most classes by this time have workede tirelessly into the night perfecting and practicing their skits. This is what it all comes down to SKIT NIGHT!!!! This is the night where Lincoln High School showcases its humor, acting, and overall spirit in a 15 minute skit.
Time Frame:
2:00 pm-5:59pm Bleacher Decorating
6:00 pm Doors close and gym is emptied for judging
6:30 pm Judging ends, doors open
7:00 pm First Skit begins
Skit Night Behavior
No swearing or disrespectful comments
No running around the gym wildly
Anyone talking while the spirit stick is raised will lose 10 points
Rules for Skits
This includes set up and break down
If the skit goes over points will be deducted
less than a minute 10 points
1-2 minutes 20 points
more than 2 minutes 30 points
Absolutely no swearing
If you are satirizing someone, you must get permission before using them.
Bleacher Decorating
Every class has to create a large poster that is both beautiful and encompassing their theme. The bleachers have to be decorated creatively; however, make sure the decorations are fireproof. Avoid using easily flammable materials. Judges will be judging your decorations on artistic ability and connection to the theme.
DODGEBALL
Skit night eventually comes to a conclusion with the great American past time DODGEBALL. What better way to end the weeks of tireless skit creation, class arguments, and dancing with a game of dodgeball.

Tug-of War
This event tests the sheer strength of the classes. Ten boys and ten girls try to pull each other onto the other side of the gym. Boys and Girls compete separately in this even
Orange Pass
In this event, 5 boys and 5 girls line up in the boy/girl order and must pass an orange down the line and back using their necks. If the orange falls, the receiver must pick it up without using their hands. Absolutely no touching of the orange with hands. No helping a teammate with a grounded orange.
Limbo
This is the simple game of flexibility. A bar will be held in the middle of the gym as students try to go under it. The bar continually gets lower after each round. This game requires 3 boys and 3 girls from every class. Rules ( if a person falls they are out. If a person hits the bar they are out.)
Knockout
In this game, members of each class will line up on the free throw line. The first two persons in line ( freshman first, senior second) holding a basketball, throw a basketball. Once the person shoots the basketball, if they hit their basket they go to the back of the line, if they miss and the person behind them gets the basket in the shooter before them is out. The game goes on until there is one person left. Boys compete on one side of the gym and the girls compete on the other simultaneously. There are 2 boy and 2 girl participants from each class.
3 Legged/Wheelbarrow Relay
In this event four classmates will stand at the baseline of the gym and two will have their legs bound together with duct tape, while the other two compete in the wheelbarrow race. When the signal is given the two people doing the wheelbarrow race to the other end of the gym, then switch positions and go back. Once they are over the line the 3 legged racers race to the other side of the gym and back. The first team back is crowned the victor. Boys and girls compete separately in this event.
Human Ring Toss
In the event four boys and four girls from each class form partners. Each partner attempts to throw a hula hoop over their fellow partner's head. After each round participants will be moved back until a winner is declared. Boys and girls compete separately in this event.
Four Square
In this classic elementary game, two guys and two girls from each class partake in batting around a playground ball from square to square until someone is knocked out out, another classmate takes their place until all four of their classmates are out and there is one class left standing.
Whip Cream and Bubblegum Extravaganza
This new age and exciting event puts a sweet spin on the traditional eating contest. In this event, one boy and one girl from each class must locate and extremely elusive stick of bubblegum, in a maze of whip cream, using their face. After the student finds the cube shaped gum, they must blow a bubble before all the classes, in order to be crowned champion.
Dizzy Goggle Relay
In this old, yet hilarious event, six students, three guys and three girls from each class must spin around ten times resting their forehead on a baseball bat, while wearing altering eyewear. The contestants must then make a mad dash through the jungle of cones until they come to a basketball. The contestant must then make a free throw shot, to complete the course. This must be done until all six members of the class have completed the mission.
Hypnotist
The hypnotist show provides a chance to see your fellow students in some of the most ridiculous situations. Every year it is an excellent tine for those that attend. Be sure to get your tickets early. Don't miss out!!!
Homecoming Dance
Homecoming Dance is the first formal dance of the year. It is the culmination of the Spirit Week events. This is the event where the winner of Spirit Week is announced. The winners will parade around with the ancient Spirit Stick and the Homecoming King and Queen are crowned.
Homecoming Court
Homecoming court will be decided as the top five senior girls and top 5 senior guys voted upon by the entire school. These 10 individuals will voted on again to find the King and Queen of the Homecoming Event.

- No student is to dress in inappropriate outfits.
- Student Council and Faculty have the right to deem any outfit inappropriate. So please use your best judgement.
- The winner of the spirit day is based on percentage of the amount of kids dressed up over the total amount of kids in your class minus the kids absent. Only the class with the highest percentage of kids dressed up, the winner, gets points for this event. This gets tallied in advisory.
- Winners will be announced over announcements
- Advisory teachers that dress up count as 5 students toward their advisory class.

- Anyone caught stealing any food from another class or plain taking it will be penalized 20 pts.
- The Ramen Rule: Due to excessive ramen donations we are going to count 5 Ramen noodles as one point while everything else is one point each.
- The food drive will be active at all times until 9:00 am Friday Morning
- Food drive boxes will be located in the Main Foyer.

- This is where you can buy SKIT night and Battle of the Classes tickets from your class advisors. ( buy them early because they sell out!!)
- This is the unveiling of the class shirts. You can only buy your own; but, all the classes will be represeting their shirt.
- Make sure you have a good time!!!! Dance, Eat, and Socialize!!

DODGEBALL
Skit night eventually comes to a conclusion with the great American past time DODGEBALL. What better way to end the weeks of tireless skit creation, class arguments, and dancing with a game of dodgeball.
Rules:
- Each team is comprised of 10 players ( 5 girls and 5 boys)
- If the ball hits you on the fly you are out.
- If you catch a ball on the fly, the person who threw it is out.
- When you are thrown out you are to report to the opposing teams baseline or jail
- In order to get a teammate out of jail, you need to throw a ball into the opposing teams basketball hoop from your side of the court.
- If a person steps over the line while throwing the ball their throw is voided. (Student Council makes all decisions on this matter and they are final)
- If the game seems to dragging on, Student Council will reset the boundaries at their discretion.
- Freshman will play the seniors in the first game. Sophomores play the Juniors in the second game. Losers of both games play each other for the third game. Winners of both games will play for the Dodgeball Championship.
- The games begin with two balls placed at center court and each team touches their own walls. The President of the Student Council will then announce 1,2,3,DODGEBALL!!!!!! And the game begins...

- The Student Council Executive Board makes the final say on all calls during the Battle of the Classes events.
- Points may be deducted for poor conduct. ( talking while spirit stick is up, disrespect to Student Council, Faculty, or other classes, etc..)
